If you are a real guitarist like myself you may have suffered the total inability to play Guitar Hero, which is perfectly described by George Smith over at the Register.

Guitar Rising may be a better match, although I would prefer a console version. I would also prefer a pickup style interface rather than just audio. more accurate and can tell which strings you are actually plucking and hence which fret your finger is on. I still have my old Roland midi interface that did this with moderate accuracy.
